During Year 9 the students participate in Enterprise Day which allows the pupils to spend a day with various visiting speakers and guests to the college. They have the opportunity to participate in workshops, seminars and lessons all of which have a Work Related Learning and Enterprise link.
Pupils are involved in the options process during which time they make their choices for the subjects they wish to study at GCSE level. Time is spent giving the boys advice on how they and their parents can make these difficult decisions.
Boys are encouraged to take part one of the many extracurricular activities available to them, including a wide range of sporting and music activities as well as comic book club, computer programming club, debating and many more.
More emphasis is put on the boys’ assessments in Year 9 than maybe it has been lower down school, as they are encouraged to get into the good habits for revision which will stand them in good stead when they start their GCSE courses next year.
Year 9 have spent a great deal of time raising money for the Marie Curie Hospice in Woolton – a charity which is in our immediate community. Last year over £2000 was raised. Activities performed to raise the money include cake sales and a whole host of sponsored activities.
Last year the Year 9 pastoral team performed many different activities to raise money for Marie Curie including Mr. Wignall climbing Mount Snowdon carrying a 50lb weight and sleeping overnight on the summit!
