A-Level students at St Francis Xavier’s (SFX) College are celebrating after collecting their results this morning (Thursday 16 August).

Students arrived at the Woolton-based college to find out their fates, with many achieving results which enabled them to go on to their first choice of Higher Education establishment, or into apprenticeships and employment.

Among those was Zac Mullins, who achieved an A* in Further Maths, an A* in Maths, an A in Chemistry and a B in Physics. Keen to pursue a career in Engineering, he is now heading to Edinburgh.

Julia Manning got three A’s in Maths, Chemistry and Biology and has secured a place at Lancaster and will study Medicine.

Meanwhile, Stephen Lennox received an A* in ICT, and two B’s in Product Design and Business and will be completing a management trainee scheme in a major hotel chain.

Students completing vocational courses had similar success. Jessica Ryan obtained two Distinction stars in Business together with a B in Applied ICT and is off to Liverpool Hope to study Business Management. Tom Donovan completed his BTec Triple Sport qualification with two Distinction grades and a Merit, he will be studying Sports Development at Edge Hill University together; he will be keeping in touch with SFX to finish the final sections of his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award having successfully completed his 50 mile expedition in July.  Sam Scarth will pursue his career interest in Sport having gained a Distinction Star and two Distinctions in Triple Sport.

Executive headteacher Les Rippon, said:   “Our students have worked incredibly hard and I’m delighted to see their dedication has paid off. Many of them have secured a place at university whilst some will now follow their chosen career path.

“We wish them the best of luck for the future.”
