St Francis Xavier’s College (SFX) is celebrating yet another successful GCSE results day.
Following an excellent A-level results day last week – which saw a third of all A-level grades securing A* – B and a 100% BTEC pass rate – students from Year 11 kept up the good work with some two thirds of students passing five or more subjects.
This year saw the introduction of a new grading system for English language, English Literature and Maths. These subjects are now graded 9 to 1, with 9 being the top grade and 4 being the standard pass rate (equivalent to a grade C). Over 62% of pupils gained passes in both English and Maths.
The majority of students will continue to study at SFX College’s excellent sixth form, whilst others will go on to a number of alternative training and employment endeavours including apprenticeships in construction, engineering and sport.
Gez Flowers, Head of School, says: “The GCSE results today are testament to the hard work of our Year 11 students, and the dedication of both our wonderful teachers and parents in supporting the boys and ensuring that they reach their full potential.”
Executive headteacher Les Rippon, adds: “What a fantastic results week it has been for St Francis Xavier’s College! We would like to wish those students leaving us for pastures new the very best of luck and for those who will be progressing into sixth form at SFX College, here’s to the next two years and to your continuing success!”
