The English Speaking Union in partnership with The House of Lords have invited a selection of schools to take part in a chamber debate on the subject of freedom of speech.

In preparation for this, a mentor came into SFX for an afternoon to introduce the topic to a group of yr 11 boys and chaired  a discussion. At the end of the session, the boys delivered a short speech and the ESU mentor chose three boys to make the key speeches at the House of Lords on the 25th November. The boys chosen were: Sean Murphy O’Neill, Patrick Clarke and James Thompson.
The three boys will be given further training before the event and the rest of the group have also been invited to the event, in order to offer questions from the floor and to partake in a formal lunch.
A video of the debate can be seen here.
