Dear Parents

November entry for GCSE Mathematics and English

As you will be aware from previous correspondence pupils in Year 11 have been working towards the above examinations; whilst there are benefits to ‘early entry’ it is important that pupils are entered only if they are ready for the examination. In some cases it could well be in the best interests of pupils if their entry was deferred until June of Year 11.

To this end we are holding mock examinations in Mathematics and English for all of Year 11 pupils on Thursday October 10th 2014. The timetable will be as follows:

English 2h 45 mins 9.15 am start
Mathematics 1h 45 mins 1.30 pm start
(Calculator paper)

It is essential that pupils bring a calculator for the Mathematics paper. Pupils should report to school at 8.40 am as normal.

The results from the papers will be shared with you just before half term together with a decision as to whether your son is to be entered for the November series or not. The decision about entry will be based upon his performance in the mock examinations.

If you have any queries about this please contact Brother Peter, Deputy Headteacher (Key Stage 4).

Yours sincerely

Mr L Rippon
Headteacher
