One morning, late November, classroom B3 became a scaled down version of the Tommy Lee Jones’ film set, ‘Volcano’.
The working models were spectacular and an expectant buzz filled the room as everyone arrived with their structures. It was evident that a lot of work had gone into these at home. The class had been inspired to ‘erupt’ the volcanoes using instructions taken from a popular tea-time chat show’s website. The recipe for the eruption was 100 ml of acetic acid (vinegar), a spoonful of bicarbonate of soda, a few drops of red food colouring and washing up liquid.
After pouring all the mixture in, we stood well back and watched! The volcanoes did not stay dormant for long and the mixture was over flowing out of the models in no time! Everyone’s volcano was different yet still effective proving that all that hard work and effort had paid off.
